Kabbel
Biography
Kabbel is the solo project of French multi-instrumentalist Gregory Hoepffner, a prolific artist active for over 20 years in bands and projects like Almeeva (electronic/psychedelic), Jean Jean (post-rock), SURE. (dark wave/post-punk), and others.
After relocating to Sweden and collaborating with producer Christoffer Berg (Fever Ray, The Knife), he launched Kabbel in 2021 as his most personal outlet. Embracing vulnerability, he defines it as Queer Sadcore, blending industrial darkness, aerial extremes, modern pop pleasures, cinematic drama, and DIY roots.
His debut EP End of Norms (2021) marked a mental reset: shedding genre constraints, rediscovering singing, and purging ambitions for raw expression. Tracks like "Lights Go Out," "Young Again," and "No More XTC" mix damaged synths, heavy drones, layered vocals, and emotional intensity.
Since then, Kabbel has released singles (e.g., "Wave", a Beck cover), contributed to soundtracks, and continued exploring queer, sad, and defiant sonic territories from Gothenburg.
